Enforcement Screening Stations

Cardinal has been serving the enforcement community for over 50 years. They have seen many changes in the industry and have reacted to these changes with durable and affordable solutions to meet all your enforcement screening needs.

Cardinal offers complete enforcement screening and weigh station systems, as well as offers upgrades for existing stations which already may have some components such as static scales. See a typical in-station layout.

Cardinal enforcement screening systems are CVISN compliant with integrated traffic control systems and optional automatic vehicle identification (AVI) <see below for more AVI info> for motor carrier enforcement and streamlined CVO operations, and are very accurate with an accuracy level well within ASTM E1318-94 specifications for a type III or type IV WIM system.

Incorporated into the system is a traffic control system which not only tracks all vehicles through the weigh station, but it also gives the operator the ability to manually bring in vehicles from the bypass lane to the inspection area. The easily understandable operator interface allows this system to accurately and dynamically screen over 10,000 vehicles per day. With this system, officers can concentrate more on enforcement than ever before. The system also includes a comprehensive and flexible software package.

The Handbook 44, class IIIL SRC series static scale is also incorporated into this system, and is available in virtually any configuration required. The entire system is designed, and durable enough, to last years with virtually no maintenance.

Cardinal's latest enforcement facility on I-93 in New Hampshire (pictured above) is an example of legendary quality. This system has allowed officers to concentrate more on enforcement than ever before, while maintaining balance between safety and vehicle throughput.

Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI)

When a vehicle crosses the mainline system and has a transponder, all appropriate transponder data is electronically transmitted to the weigh station along with the data from the mainline WIM screening system where it is evaluated in the central computer. If the vehicle is cleared to proceed, a signal is sent to the vehicle's transponder giving the signal to the driver that it is clear to proceed or to go in the weigh station.

Enforcement Station Operator Interface

The Cardinal enforcement station operator interface is designed to be easy to understand and to provide a complete summary of all traffic in the station area. Computer monitors show the activity on the WIM scale and static scale. An additional weatherproof display showing the static scale weight to the driver is also included. Cardinal 778 programmable weight indicator which meets all requirements of Handbook 44 is also provided.

Cardinal will customize a control console for your application so that the operator may track vehicles as well as control all lights and the operation of the system. Operators can run the system in an automatic mode which gives the operator the maximum flexibility to concentrate on other issues, to semi-automatic or full manual modes.

Cardinal can also supply automatic vehicle identification (AVI) display monitors to track transponder equipped vehicles entering or bypassing the station.
